Often Pintos are mistaken for Paint Horses because they look very similar to them. Paint Horses, however, are a breed of their own, Pintos a colour breeding. The pretty fur patterns can basically occur in any breed. The animals are then referred to as Arab-Pinto or Tinker Pinto. There are even pintaloosas - a mix of pinto and appaloosa. The rule of thumb is: if you don't know the breed of a pissed horse, you can confidently say Pinto. That's true in any case.
